The Caltex Super 12 cards are colour coded according to the different colours of the rugby franchise team: Blues (white and blue), Chief (yellow and black), Hurricanes (light yellow and black), Crusaders (red) and Highlanders (blue).
The Super 12 cards are glossy and measure 85 x 85 mms. Each card depicts an action shot of a player on the front of the card together with statistics about the player which can be accessed from the fold on the back of the card.
This collection of rugby cards has a slightly different concept from typical sports cards in that they can be folded in three different ways to reveal statistics about the player and other rugby information.
When the flap on the back of the card is opened out a head shot of the player, their name and statistics are visible along with several rugby quiz questions. Folded backwards the answers to the quiz questions can be seen. The cards can also be folded to reveal the match itinery of the different Super 12 franchise teams depending on the card.

Full sets of the Super 12 cards from 1999 in good condition are hard to come by these days except from collectors and collector card dealers. Expect to pay something in the region of NZ $20-$30 on auction sites like Trademe but they don't come up that often. Singles are more common so if you don't mind buying piecemeal it is still possible to put together a nice set of Super 12 Tacklers.
