Super Mario Bros. Movie McDonalds Happy Meal Toys 2022-2023 (Paper-Based)
The McDonalds Super Mario Bros Movie toys 2022 promotion is a current global promotion from McDonalds in readiness for the release of the Super Mario Bros movie in April 2023 (previously slated for earlier release). The global promotion of the paper-based Super Mario Bros. Movie McDonalds happy meal toys is expected to be virtually identical in most countries receiving the promotion [UK, Europe and Australia and NZ] though some regional variations to account for languages differences may exist.
Disappointment over social media has been expressed in countries receiving the card-based Super Mario Bros toys on learning that the US, Canada and Asia will get the plastic versions. The McDonalds happy meal sets feature buildable Super Mario toys inspired by the characters from the movie: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Toad and Cranky Kong.The toy concept is simple: to construct the various Super Mario characters and their vehicles from colour-coded cutouts made of heavy card. 6 large figures in vehicles and 6 spinning tops figures are available in the full world set. In addition a cut out background can be used from the packaging for the spinning tops.
The World Set of McDonalds Super Mario Bros. Movie Toys 2022-2023 includes 12 different Super Mario happy meal toys:

Australia and New Zealand
The Super Mario McDonalds happy meal toys (set of 12) will be available in Australia and New Zealand before Christmas 2022 although the exact date of release is not yet known. The trend towards more sustainable toys and away from plastic is once again evident in this release of paper-based toys. The promotion of Super Mario Bros. happy meal toys began at McDonalds in the UK and Ireland on 4 January 2023. For those McDonalds patrons not wanting a toy a happy meal reader is an alternative from the Big Dreams, Little People range. The promotion will end on 7 February 2023.
There were only 9 Nintendo Super Mario Bros figures and vehicles from the world set distributed in the UK compared to most other countries that had the full set of 12. The cut down set includes the following toys: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach,Super Mario Kart, Cranky Kong Kart, Donkey Kong Kart, Toad Kart, Mario and Luigi Van, Princess Peach Bike.
Europe
While the McDonalds UK set of Super Mario toys was limited to 9 toys other countries had the full set of 12 toys. Among the first European countries to receive the set of Super Mario Bros. toys were: France, Portugal and Switzerland (December 2022). Since then the following countries are known to have also had the McDonalds promotion:- Spain

The plastic toys inspired by the Super Mario Bros. movie are being distributed in happy meals by McDonalds in the US, Canada, South America, Central America and Asia [Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia (March 2023)]. All regions will receive the same 8 Mario happy meal toys.
The World Set of the plastic McDonalds Super Mario Bros. Movie Toys 2022-2023 includes 8 different Super Mario happy meal toys:
- Jumping Mario
Press down on his head to activate his spring-loaded legs, then release to watch him jump.
- Toad Kart
Push car when on a flat surface to it go in the direction you want.
- Flashlight Luigi
Depress lever on his back and arm moves right to left.
- Spinning Peach
Put her on a flat surface and hold her while she spins.
- Mario Kart
On push kart spins in different directions.
- Barrel Donkey Kong
Turn the wheel on his back to make right warm rotate 360 degrees.
- Fire Breathing Bowser
Press the button on his back to spin the flames in his mouth.

USA
The McDonalds Super Mario Bros. movie toys are coming on promotion in the US on 27 December 2022 in line with the global promotion throughout the rest of the world. Although the movie starring Jack Black and Chris Pratt is due for release in April 2023, the happy meal toys are being promoted much earlier. Some production delay has caused them to now be out of sync rather than coincide with the movie release.

The promotion of the McDonalds Super Mario Bros. movie happy meal toys began in Singapore on Thursday 15 Dec 2022 and concludes on Wednesday 11 Jan 2023. The set contains identical toys to that distributed in the USA and Canada. The toys are available in the following order:

(22 December - 28 December 2022)- Spinning Lumalee and Mario Kart

You may not expect it but Thailand too has the 8 plastic Super Mario toys at McDonalds. The promotion runs from 16 December 2022 to 19 January 2023.Japan
Eight plastic Super Mario toys were offered at McDonalds Japan beginning 23 December 2022 and running into January 2023.Brazil
In December 2022 Brazil has the Super Mario set (Super Mario Bros: O Filme) of 8 toys / 8 brinquedos available in Happy Meal / McLanche Feliz following on from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever promotion. The Mario happy meal toys are identical to the North American and Asian set.
South America
In Spanish speaking South America Super Mario toys promotions began rolling out in mid December 2022. There are 8 plastic McDonalds Mario toys available insprired by the Mario Bros movie / juguetes de #SuperMarioBrosLaPelicula. The toys are identical to the USA, Canada and Asian versions.South American countries known to have had the Super Mario toys are: Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia.
