McDonalds Mario Kart 8 Happy Meal Toys 2014 Australia and New Zealand

McDonalds Mario Kart 8 happy meal toys were promoted at McDonalds restaurants in Australia and New Zealand in September and October 2014 along with Monster High toys. The McDonalds Mario Kart 8 toys are a set of 8 McDonalds Super Mario themed happy meal toys distributed as a tie-in with the launch of Mario Kart 8 racing video game from Nintendo.

Collectors Note 

The McDonalds Mario Kart 8 happy meal toy promotion is identical to the USA release in July 2014. The only difference is that in the US they were promoted alongside Ty Beanie Boos while in Australia and New Zealand the Mario Kart 8 toys were paired with Monster High toys.

The same set of 8 toys was also released in Asian countries such as Malaysia (December 2015), Thailand (Nov-Dec 2015) and Taiwan (Nov-Dec 2015). Meanwhile in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay and Chile) and in Mexico the Mario Kart toys were paired with Barbie Dreamhouse. Princess Peach and Mario's Visor were dropped from the line up in these countries leaving only six Mario Kart 8 toys.

Seven of the eight happy meal toys in the McDonalds Mario Kart 8 promotion feature Super Mario characters in a vehicle from the Nintendo Mario Kart 8 video game. The remaining toy is a plastic red wearable Mario Visor.

The McDonalds Mario Kart 8 toys are hard plastic, come with a sticker set to apply to the vehicle and look great on display. Each toy apart from the visor is a push and go vehicle with no articulation or particular gimmick.

Included in this 2014 Mario Kart 8 promotion are:

• Mario - red shirt and blue overalls. Wears a red visor and is drives a white car with red highlights


• Luigi - green shirt and blue overalls. Wears a green visor and is driving a blue vehicle.


• Donkey Kong - gorilla wearing a red neck tie and driving a white cruiser vehicle with brown highlights.


• Yoshi - green dinosaur riding a green and grey motorbike.


• Toad - red and white mushroom driving a car that is white with a blue highlight.


• Bowser - green dragon with shell on his back driving a blue vehicle.


• Princess Peach - princess with yellow hair on a pink and grey motorbike.


• Mario Visor - red plastic eyeshade visor as worn by the Mario character.

8 different McDonalds Mario Kart 8 happy meal toys were released in 2014 in Australia and New Zealand along with Monster High toys. The promotion is part of a global release featuring the same 8 toys in USA, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia.
