Some of the standout 2008 McDonalds happy meal toy promotions included Star Wars Clone Wars, Madagascar 2, Transformers Animated and Spiderwick Chronicles. Other promotions such as Mr Men and Little Miss, Kung Fu Panda and Pokemon are all worth an honorable mention.

There were lots of other fun happy meal toys distributed by McDonalds in 2008. Pokemon, Lego Bionicle, Powerpuff Girls and Strawberry Shortcake to name some others .

McDonalds Star Wars The Clone Wars

As I am a bit of a trekkie anyway my all time favourite happy meal toy promotion of 2008 was Star Wars The Clone Wars. Due to short supply and over subscription these toys now sell at a premium on auction sites in the Northern Hemisphere. The Australia and New Zealand set had only 8 toys compared to 18 toys in the USA. On the brightside though we got Yoda, Darth Vader, Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi toys as part of the giveaway. Some of the toys had sound chips so even better.

McDonalds Madagascar 2 Escape to Africa

There were 8 character themed toys in this happy meal toy set based on the Madagascar 2 movie. Each toy has an embedded sound chip that delivers three different phrases. Read my article about this set for a complete run down about the toys and a list of what each character says.

McDonalds Transformers Animated

While there were only four out of the six of the USA Transformers Animated happy meal toys released in Australia and New Zealand this is still a nice set of toys which included Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Megatron and Bumblebee. McDonalds Spiderwick Chronicles

The McDonalds Spiderwick Chronicles toys were a nice set of 10 happy meal toys that were a tie-in with the Spiderwick movie. The Australasian version had the Pink Flower Sprite toy instead of the Goblin but otherwise the toys were identical to the US release.
