McDonalds Secret Life of Pets happy meal toys were promoted in happy meals at McDonalds restaurants around the world from July 2021. Asia, Australia and NZ got a nice set of plastic character-themed toys from the Secret Life of Pets movie of which a couple of toys have a sound chip. Meanwhile UK, Europe and USA got plushies instead, Some countries such as Brazil got a hybrid set of both plastic and plush.

Secret Life of Pets Happy Meal Toys 2016 - Plastic

South-East Asia

South-East Asian promotions (eg Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines) (August-September 2016) had hard plastic versions of Secret Life of Pets McDonalds toys. There are 8 toys in these sets and they do not contain the Mel and Norman toys included in the Australian version.

Australia and New Zealand

The Australia and New Zealand McDonalds Secret Life of Pets toys were promoted during August and September 2021. They are made of hard plastic and stand approximately 8 cms tall. This 10 toy happy meal set should not be confused with the McDonalds Secret Life of Pets 2 toys 2019 issue which contained 12 toys and was promoted by McDonalds in 2019.

Australia and New Zealand got 2 more toys than other countries that had plastic Secret Life of Pets McDonalds toys such as Singapore and Malaysia that only had 8 toys. The extra toys in the Australia happy meal toy set are: Mel and Norman.

• Chloe - Cat. On press of the button on her back sound chip is activated and Chloe purrs.


• Max - Terrier dog. Wind up toy that flips.


• Snowball - Rabbit. Eyes change their look on press.





• Gidget - White Pomeranian dog. Bobblehead toy on wind up.


• Buddy - Daschund dog. Body stretches when pulled and released.


• Sweet Pea - Parakeet. Wings move up and down when pressed down on hard surface.





• Duke - Stray mixed breed dog. Move his leg to activate his sound chip and hear him laugh and howl.


• Croc - Crocodile. Push and roll toy. Mouth opens and closes on push.


• Mel - Pug Dog. Push and roll toy. Australia, New Zealand, South America Exclusive plastic version.


• Norman - Guinea Pig. Wind up toy. Australia, New Zealand South America Exclusive plastic version.

Secret Life of Pets Happy Meal Toys 2016 - Plush

USA

It is worth noting that the USA got a completely different set of McDonalds Secret Life of Pets to Asia and Ocenaia even though the same movie characters are featured. The USA promotion is a 10 plush set promoted from 5 July 2016 - 8 August 2016. That set of Secret Life of Pets contains the following mini plush happy meal toys: Mel, Gidget, Max, Pops, Snowball, Chloe, Buddy, Duke, Sweetpea and Norman.

UK

The UK also got a plush set of 10 Secret Life of Pets McDonalds toys distributed from 22 June to 2nd August 2016 though the line-up is a variation on the US set. Included in this 10 toy set are: Norman Hamster, Pops the Dog, Croc Crocodile, Duke the Brown Fluffy Dog, Snowball Rabbit, Chloe the Cat, Sweet Pea the Budgie, Buddy the Dachshund, Max the Dog, Gidget the Dog.

Secret Life of Pets Happy Meal Toys 2016 - Mix of Plastic and Plush

Brazil

In Brazil the Secret Life of Pets movie is called A Vida Secreta dos Bichos. The McDonalds happy meal toys (brinquandos McLanche Feliz) distributed in September 2016 are a mixture of plastic and plush. Included in the Brazilian set are: Gidget (called Gigi), Max (plush), Duke (plush), Mel, Sweetpea (Docinho), Buddy, Chloe (plush), Norman, Snowball (Bola de neve) and Croc (Croque, plush).

Uruguay

I am not sure if Uruguay is representative of the McDonalds promotion throughout Spanish speaking South America but there they had 10 McDonalds Secret Life of Pets toys (la vida secreta de las mascotas / juguetes Cajita Feliz). Five are plush (Chloe / Clo, Snowball, Max, Duke and Croc) and 5 plastic (Mel / Teo, Sweatpea / Alitas, Gidget / Gigi, Norman and Buddy).

Argentina

The McDonalds Secret Life of Pets promotion in happy meals (Cajita Feliz) ran until 31 August 2016 in Argentina and featured the same toy line-up as Uruguay.

McDonalds Secret Life of Pets toys 2016 were available around the world from July 2021 with some countries getting plastic version and others the plush toys. Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines and Australia had plastic happy meal toys ranging from 8-10 toys in the set.
