Collectors Note
The DK Eye Wonder books were also promoted in some Asian countries eg Singapore and perhaps the UK but cover design varied. To my knowledge these happy meal readers were not available in North American countries (USA & Canada).
The books in this McDonalds DK Eyewonder set are simple readers suitable for reading with a child. The books have glossy covers and are small enough measuring 15 cms x 11.5 cms to easily be held by a child. The marketing strategy behind this happy meal book promotion is that kids who enjoy these free books from McDonalds will eventually go on to read more advanced books in the DK educational series.
Also a feature of the McDonalds DK Eyewonder promotion were a set of bookmarks featuring the six different themes. There was also the option for kids to play online and learn more about the natural world around them based on these books however this is no longer available. As this promotion was not global the books are in relatively short supply and are now only available from collectors and occasionally come up for sale on auction sites.
