Collector Notes - Barbie
All four Barbies in the Australasian McDonalds Barbie set 2019 have an identical Barbie in the United States release (Sept/Oct 2019). These are Barbie Vet, Barbie Astronaut, Barbie Surfer and Barbie Firefighter. The main difference between the two versions is that the full set from the USA has 8 toys and also includes: #1 Barbie Tennis Player, #3 Barbie Princess #5 Barbie Musician (Pop Star) #7 Barbie Ballerina.
McDonalds Barbie happy meal toys released in 2019 in Asian countries had four Barbies but the lineup was different. Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, The Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong had: Barbie Pop Star, Barbie Mermaid, Barbie Astronaut and Barbie Surfer. McDonalds Pakistan had Barbie Astronaut, Race Car Barbie, Pet Vet Barbie and Barbie Firefighter in their Jan 2019 promotion. It worth noting that in the July and August 2020 promotion Singapore some of the other Barbies from the 2019 promotion: Barbie Princess, Race Car Barbie, Pet Vet Barbie and Barbie Ballerina were included.
The McDonalds Barbies promoted in Europe typically had 5 happy meal toys per set and included the identical toys to the Australasian set plus Barbie Tennis Player.
McDonalds Barbie Happy Meal Toys 2019
McDonalds in partnership with Mattel have been releasing Barbie happy meal toys for some years now but 2019 was a special year given it was the 60th anniversary of Barbie. In this iteration the Barbies are plastic and stand around 127 mm tall or approximately 5 inches. The #barbie dolls have limited articulation and no removable clothing but on the plus side they look good on display and are popular with collectors.
Included in the Australia and New Zealand release for 2019 McDonalds Barbies happy meal toy set are the following toys:
- Barbie Astronaut
- Barbie Vet
- Barbie Surfer - comes with purple surfboard accessory
- Barbie Firefighter

As with the Barbies all four Hot Wheels cars in the Australasian McDonalds set of 2019 are identical to four of the eight happy meal toys promoted in the USA in Sept/Oct 2019: D-muscle Tight Turn Ramp, Winning Formula Fulcrum Ramp, Night Shifter Gate Crasher and Gazella R Jump. The other four vehicles included in the US release but not in Australia and New Zealand set are: Twin Mill Hoop, Blitzspeeder Blast-off Gate, Bone Speeder Track Switcher and Gt Hunter Ring Of Fire.
Throughout most of South East Asia and India the McDonalds Hot Wheels set for 2019 also contained four toys but with a slightly different lineup to the Australia and New Zealand release. Gt Hunter Ring Of Fire was included instead of Gazella R Jump. In 2020 the remaining toys were promoted in Singapore in July 2020 for both the Hot Wheels and Barbie sets.
The McDonalds Hot Wheels/Barbie promotion was also released in Europe with most of the promotions including five toys as in countries like Russia which got GT Hunter Ring Of Fire, Twin Mill Hoop in addition to D-Muscle Tight Turn Ramp, Winning Formula Fulcrum Ramp, Night Shifter Gate Crasher.
McDonalds Hot Wheels Happy Meal Toys 2019
There are four different McDonalds Hot Wheels Cars to collect in this 2019 McDonalds happy meal toy promotion Hack the Track. Each vehicle is plastic with interlocking wheels and has a scale of 1:64, the size that McDonalds typically promotes in Hot Wheels cars. Accessories for each racing car are a unique ramp (components lock together to form a track) and a sticker set to customize the car.
- Gazella R Jump - grey silver racing car with blue highlights
- D-Muscle Tight Turn Ramp - white racing car with orange highlights. #18 on side panel.
- Night Shift Gate Crasher - blue racing car #3 on the roof
- Winning Formula Fulcrum Ramp - red racing car
Summary
McDonalds Barbie Happy Meal Toy promotion in 2019 celebrated 60 years of Barbie dolls with a You Can Be Anything theme. The Australia and New Zealand version only had four of the eight Barbie dolls released in USA. The lineup of Barbies differs from that of many Asian countries too. Along with the Barbies there were four Hot Wheels cars - a cut down version of the Hot Wheels promotion in the United States.
