McDonalds Sing Happy Meal Toys 2016-2017 Australia and New Zealand

McDonalds Sing happy meal toys were promoted at McDonalds restaurants throughout Australia and New Zealand in December 2016 and January 2017. The full set of Australasian McDonalds Sing toys is comprised of 8 character figures released as part of a tie-in with the Sing movie from Illumination and Universal Studios.

Collectors Note 

There are a number of variations of the set of McDonalds Sing toys around the world. The Australia and New Zealand issue has 2 more toys than that released in Europe (eg UK, Spain, Denmark, Austria, Germany and Italy) which had only 6 toys (Ash, Buster, Miss Crawly, Mike, Johnny and Meena. There were 7 toys in the United States (Dec 2016 - Jan 2017) and Canada sets including Rosita and Gunter while Mike was dropped from the line up. McDonalds Sing toys were also released in Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines) and in Latin America and South America (Brazil) and in some of these countries the Red Pandas Q-Teez were included.

The Sing toys at McDonalds are a nice set of 8 figures to have in your collection and look good on display. Three of the eight have a sound chip: Buster, Rosita and Meena. These McDonalds Sing toys are easy enough to pick up in played with condition but mostly likely the sound chip will no longer be working.

• Buster Moon - koala. Sound chip activates on clapping if turned on at rear. The phrases Buster says are hard to understand. Sounds like, “Hahahahaha.", "Ja!", and "Gonna spice things up on stage!”.


• Eddie - lamb. On push of her feet head moves side to side.


• Johnny - gorilla. Squeeze Johnny's legs together and his body moves side to side in a dance. Right arm is partially articulated.


• Mike - white mouse. Push and roll toy on wheels.


• Ash - porcupine. Both arms are articulated in order to raise microphone to the mouth. Sings when switched on and activated with a hand clap.





• Rosita - pig. Turn on switch on back of the figure and Rosita sings from the chorus of Firework. The sound chip is activated by hand clapping in front of her. In some countries there is a different version of Rosita that dances on press of a button on her back.


• Miss Crawly - iguana. Wind up toy that walks forward when placed on a flat surface.





• Meena - elephant. Arm articulates to move the microphone up to her mouth and ears move. In some countries Meena has a sound chip which is activated by a switch on her back. On switch Meena sings "don't you worry about a thing baby". A clap in front of her activates the sound chip.

Summary 

In December 2016 McDonalds launched a global happy meal toy promotion of Sing happy meal toys based on the Sing movie. There are a number of differences in size and composition of the Sing McDonalds toy sets around the world. North America had 7 McDonalds Sing toys while Australia and New Zealand have a complement of 8 toys of which 3 toys have a sound chip.
