The McDonalds Space Jam toys 2021 were available worldwide but not all countries got the plastic variety. This article is detailed look at the plastic McDonalds Space Jam toys with a few notes about the fiber/paper/plush toys that were given away in the UK and some European countries.

Space Jam McDonalds Toys Australia and New Zealand

The last time Space Jam McDonalds toys were promoted at McDonalds was way back in 1996 as a tie-in with the original Space Jam movie featuring Michael Jordan. These were promoted in the US but sadly McDonalds never released the 1996 Space Jam toys in Australia and New Zealand. Fortunately collectors did not miss out completely as that same year KFC released a set of 5 Space Jam themed character toys based on the original movie.

The Australia and New Zealand Space Jam McDonalds toys promotion for 2021 consists of 14 hard plastic toys and feature some of the most popular Looney Tunes characters including Road Runner, Lola Bunny and Daffy Duck. Collectively these guys are known as the Tune Squad.

McDonalds Space Jam Toys 2021 International Promotions

USA

The 12 McDonalds Space Jam happy meal toys promoted in the USA in July and August 2021 are identical to the Australia and NZ set. The only difference is that the Australia and NZ set includes an additional toy: Bugs Bunny and LeBron James (see picture below) which was omitted from the lineup for most other countries apart from Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Promotion started on 6 July 2021.

Canada

Canada along with Australia and New Zealand also had 14 Space Jam happy meal toys in total in its McDonalds Space Jam promotion. The extra toys over the US set are: Bugs Bunny and LeBron James and the Goon Squad toy which is a basketball hoop that features all the Tunes Squad rather than a single character.

Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia

Singapore had 12 Space Jam toys too during the promotion period (8 July to 4 August 2021). The same Space Jam a new legacy McDonalds toys were also promoted in Philippines during 9 July and 5 August 2021 and in Indonesia around the same time.

Brazil

Kids in Brazil had 10 McDonalds Space Jam toys (Space Jam in McLanche Feliz) a new legacy (um novo legado). There is no LeBron James Dunk and no Marvin the Martian in the set. The Looney Tunes characters are called different names in Portuguese too eg Sylvester is known as Frajola and Road Runner as Papa-léguas.

McDonalds Space Jam Toys 2021 - Brazil

UK

The McDonalds Space Jam toys in the UK promotion (21 July - 7 September 2021) are different toys altogether from the countries that got the plastic Space Jam toys. The UK release has toys made from a mix of fibre and plush. The line-up includes: 4 pop-up skill games, 4 plush basket balls, 2 card games, and 2 activity sets. There are also two Space Jam Looney Tunes books to collect: The 24 Carat Rabbit and The Kidnap of Tweety.

Cyprus

Cyprus McDonalds is already underway with reducing waste so Space Jam toys came in character-themed cardboard boxes as seen in the picture below.

Sanitarium Weet-Bix Cards List of All Blacks Rugby Cards from 2000

Weet-Bix cards from Sanitarium Health Food Company have been a traditional gift with purchase in cereal boxes in Australia and New Zealand for around eighty years. While the glory days of the release of multiple cereal cards series to collect each year has dwindled to just one promotion a year, the Weet-Bix cards themselves remain a firm favourite with collectors and retain their value as a collectible.

Weetbix cards these day focus exclusively on a rugby union theme where as previously promotions were not just sport oriented. For more on Weetbix cards on general themes check out this page of Weetbix cards prior to 2000.

Weetbix cards are still highly collectible both in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia Weetbix cards featuring the Wallabies sell for around AU $20 each on Ebay for cards signed by players. In New Zealand prices for full sets of mint Weetbix All Blacks cards vary from set to set but overall sell in the range of NZ $20 to $60. Usually the current years cards are in high demand as collectors scramble to complete full sets while the promotion is on which often inflates the price.

The McDonalds Minions happy meal toys 2021 promotion that began in June 2021 has been underway for a few weeks now at McDonalds restaurants in Australia and New Zealand. This is one of the biggest promotional sets that we have seen in a long time and features many character toys from the popular Minions: The Rise Of Gru movie making it a challenge for collectors to pick up all 52 Minion toys on offer. On top of the 52 classic Minions happy meal toys McDonalds promises some gold Minions will also be available as it has done in other Minions promotions around the globe.

McDonalds Transformers Robots in Disguise and My Little Pony Happy Meal Toys 2017 Australia NZ

McDonalds Transformers Toys 2017 (Robots in Disguise) and My Little Pony happy meal toys were distributed at McDonalds restaurants in Australia and New Zealand in January and February 2017 in partnership with Hasbro. The McDonalds Transformers toys featured five different Robots in Disguise as seen on the animated series of the same name. There were also 5 McDonalds My Little Pony Friendship is Magic ponies given away with this promotion.

McDonalds The Tiny Detectives Happy Meal Readers 2021-2022 Australia and New Zealand

McDonalds restaurants in Australia and New Zealand have added an exclusive book series, The Tiny Detectives by Cressida Cowell to their range of McDonalds Happy Meal Readers in March 2021. The Happy Meal Readers are hardback and build to a set of 12 books with two books being released every 4-8 weeks over the course of the year and will end in 2022. The first two readers available are entitled: Can Trees Talk? and Do Fish Glow in the Dark?

Weet-Bix Rugby Cards 2017 - All Blacks Dare to Dream Series

Sanitarium gave away Weet-Bix Rugby Cards in their All Blacks Dare to Dream series in Weet-Bix cereal boxes in 2017 in New Zealand. The 750 gram Weetbix boxes contained 2 Dare to Dream cards while the 1.2 kgs boxes contained 3 cards. The full set of Dare to Dream Weetbix cards consists of 15 cards featuring a different All Black on each card numbered 1 to 15.

The Weetbix All Blacks rugby cards in the Dare to Dream collection feature an action shot of a player on the front of the card while their name and card number are displayed on the righthand side of the card. The Weet-bix and All Blacks logos appear at the bottom of each card.

On the back of each Weetbix All Blacks Dare to Dream card is the players name and several paragraphs about their rugby history. At the bottom left is a code that can be entered on the Weetbix website unlocking more information about each player.

Summary

The theme of the Sanitarium Weetbix Cards for 2017 entitled Dare to Dream was about striving to make dreams of becoming an All Black a reality. At only 15 cards in the full set, this issue of the Weet-Bix cards that are released annually, was on the small side. Nethertheless the cards were popular with collectors and can now only be obtained on secondhand marketplaces like Facebook and Trademe.

Sanitarium Weet-Bix All Blacks Rugby Cards Collector Series 2004 New Zealand

Sanitarium in partnership with the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby Team promoted the Weetbix All Blacks Collector card series in Weet-Bix cereal for a limited time during 2004. There are 15 cards in the full set of the Collector Card series, each numbered 1 to 15 and featuring a different All Black.

The 15 cards in the Weetbix All Blacks Collector cards series were distributed in 750gms and 1kg Weet-Bix cereal boxes. At 70 x 120mm they are larger than the average size of Weet-Bix cards typically distributed by Sanitarium.

McDonalds DC Superheroes Toys 2021

McDonalds DC Superheroes toys 2021 happy meal toy promotion began at McDonalds restaurants in Australia and New Zealand beginning early May 2021 and was available at other locations around the world including UK, Canada, Spain, Malaysia in 2021. The DC Superheroes McDonalds toys set is larger than most recent happy meal toy promotions, being comprised of 10 DC Super Heroes characters. As you might expect in these days of sustainable toy promotions the DC Super Heroes are plush soft toys rather than plastic.

Corinthian Headliners New Zealand All Blacks Rugby Figures Collection 1996-1997

Corinthian Headliners New Zealand All Blacks Rugby Figures Collection were released in 1996-1997 and were available at selected toy stores throughout New Zealand. These figures are now highly sought after by collectors particularly because star player Jonah Lomu is featured in the line up. Expect to pay around $20 AU for a MIP figure and more for a Lomu figure on auction sites like Ebay.

There are 14 rugby figures that make up the Corinthian Headliners set. Each figure is blister packed and comes with an information leaflet about the player along with a collector information file.

The nicely detailed figures are made from hard plastic resin. Each player is featured in an action pose. These rugby figures while not articulated still make excellent items for display.

There were a number of other releases of New Zealand rugby player figures around the same time as the Corinthians Headliners set. Caltex service stations had two promotions: one in 1995 for the Rugby World Cup and the another All Blacks Interchangeables in 1998 often dubbed Caltex Rugby Eggs. A decade later Mobil gave away rugby figures in 2007 that stand on a faux grass like base but have no name identifiers.

The Corinthians are easily identifiable as they have a superior finish and each figure stands on its own green base engraved at the front with the player surname. On the underside of the base is stamped Corinthians, Copyright New Zealand Rugby Football Union, and the number of the individual player in the figure set.
